Thank you to everyone who helped make this season possible! Yesterday was a great day and thankful for this community!PCABA held the annual Opening Day parade and ceremony this chilly morning! What a wonderful tradition we have in our town. As resident Scott Hilbert stated in his opening remarks and prayer, many try to replicate this feeling and atmosphere, but we get to live and raise our kids this way. Stop out to Pastime Park and catch a game this spring and summer. ⚾️ 🥎 Thank you to PCABA for all the hard work that was put into getting ready for the season. We appreciate our partnership for the youth of our town! ... See MoreSee Less

Last fall, Kaiser Field and Barker Field got more than just a little maintenance — they got a full facelift!Over the past several years, both fields reached a point where improvements were necessary to ensure long-term playability. Anyone familiar with baseball and softball fields knows how tricky they can be: too much or too little dirt, too much water or not enough, uneven surfaces from gameplay — all of these factors impact performance. The ultimate goal is always the same: a field that can handle play in a variety of conditions.Until recently, even moderate rainfall would lead to puddling on both fields, slowing down games and increasing maintenance time. Late last summer, PCABA was approached by Rayce Robinson with a vision to improve both fields. That idea quickly gained momentum when Mercer Group, Inc. Athletic Field Contractors joined the project, and plans began to take shape. Here’s what went into the renovations:Barker Field• Regraded surface• Installed new base plugs• Added new field material for improved drainageKaiser Field• Removed and rebuilt the infield surface• Reset base plugs• Constructed a brand-new pitcher’s mound• Created a home plate circle• Added bullpen mounds• Brought in topsoil and re-sodded the infield grassIt was a big project — but it came together quickly and efficiently. Mercer Group did an outstanding job, and the results speak for themselves.Since completion, both fields have held up beautifully through the winter and into spring. Even after several heavy storms this season, the fields have drained exceptionally well with minimal puddling. We’re excited to see them in action all season long! This project would not have been possible without the generous support of local businesses and families. We extend our sincere thanks to:• The Robinson Family• Tarrier Steel Company• Beachy Ventures• Wrightsel Wealth Management• Marysville Dental Associates• PCABATo commemorate this incredible effort, a beautiful sign has been installed on the Crow’s Nest — a lasting reminder of what this community can accomplish together.Pony Field has not been forgotten. There are some incredible plans for Pony Field coming very soon. Stay tuned. Here’s to many great seasons ahead! 🌟⚾️🥎❤️🖤 ... See MoreSee Less

So much excitement for tomorrow—Opening Day is just ONE MORE sleep away!Opening Day is special for so many reasons: the official kickoff to the baseball, softball, and T-ball season; kids smiling and tossing candy during the parade; games being played all day in Pastime Park; ice cream on a warm (or cold) afternoon—it’s the moment summer truly begins. Whatever your reason for being excited, we’re right there with you!Opening Day is also a time to celebrate the Plain City community and reflect on the memories made at Pastime Park throughout PCABA’s 67-year history. Memories of the teams you played on, riding on a float in the parade, hitting a game-winning ball, scoring the winning run, or simply running around the park with friends. While we celebrate those moments, we also take time to honor the people who helped build this tradition.PCABA is an organization powered by volunteers who dedicate their time to the youth of Plain City. They are the backbone of everything we do. Each Opening Day, we pause to recognize those who have made a lasting impact. This year, we honor Chris “Duck” Duckworth.Chris was an integral part of PCABA for many years. He served as President from 2004–2013 and later as Director of Umpires from 2014–2019. Throughout his leadership, he also contributed to the MidWest Buckeye League Rules Committee. Even after his official roles, Chris remained a constant presence at Pastime Park—watching games, supporting players, and even stepping back onto the field as an umpire. His passion for our community and its youth was evident in everything he did.We lost Chris last September, but his legacy lives on through the countless lives he impacted. He is someone we will never forget. We couldn’t think of a more meaningful way to begin the 2026 season than by honoring Chris as our Opening Day First Pitch recipient. His wife, Susie, along with family members, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on his behalf.Join us tomorrow morning at Kaiser Field at 10:30 AM for the Opening Day Ceremony. Help us honor Chris, Susie, and the entire Duckworth family as we kick off the 2026 season together. ... See MoreSee Less

Welcome to Opening Day week! The countdown is officially on to Opening Day! We wanted to pass along some information pertaining to the Opening Day Parade. Trailers can begin to enter the park (from the South Entrance by the PC Pool) at 8:00A to start and decorate. All trailers must be in place by 8:30A. Players can begin to enter the park at 8:40A and must be on their team trailers by 9:15A. The Parade will kick off at 9:30A sharp! We are keeping the change to the parade line up this year. Last year we started the parade with the oldest teams going first and the younger players going last and that seemed like worked well so we will keep it for this year. A diagram is attached below to help view the layout of the park. (Note: tball/8U parents, if you are looking to park and walk your player to the park, you will want to try and park by the Pool as that will be the closest parking). We started a Drop Off Loop a few years ago for families to drop off their child, while keeping traffic flowing. We will continue with this again this year. The Drop Off Loop will be on the North side of the park by the campground. This will NOT be a place to park your car and walk your player to their trailer. The Drop Off Loop will close at 9:15A as we prepare for the start of the parade. A diagram will be linked for you to view. (Note: parents of the older teams and travel teams, the Drop Off Loop will be the best option for you as your players trailers will be the closest option) If you need to park your car, you will need to utilize the pool parking lot or open area behind the pool, so please plan and get there early. The entrance to the fields in the park will be closed till after the parade has concluded so we have enough room for trucks and trailers to park after unloading players. We will drop off players at the entrance of Kaiser field, where all team will head to the outfield to be recognized with their coaches during the Opening Day Ceremony. After the ceremony is over, parents will be able to meet their players at the Kaiser field entrance. Team/Individual pictures will be held on Thursday, April 30th and Friday, May 1st, so no pictures on Opening Day again this year! The picture schedule was shared last week. If you do not know your picture time, please contact your coach. Let’s Play Ball! PCABA Trailer Line Up Grid: see below in photo ... See MoreSee Less
